Holden, Shrewsbury, Sutton, Grafton, Millbury ... more and more local requests for our bed bug dogs, Nicki and Malamar. Being that bed bugs are cold-blooded, they become more active when the weather warms up and they become more hungry. But Nicki and Malamar are ready for the upcoming summer wave of bed bug infestations. So give us a call if you suspect them but can't find them. 508-713-8267 or request a bed bug inspection here.

I received a call from this landlord who owns a 6-apartment complex.  He needed to  have our beagles inspect 2 of these units as they had been a recurring problem with bed bugs.  He had had the units treated several times in teh past and wanted to finally  "nip it in the bud" as he put it.
But in the process of listening to him, it became evident that he did still have an infestation.  In addition, he opted to go with a heat treatment this time, as pesticide applications in the past, for whatever reason, had not worked so far.
We explained that the dog detection was a moot point since he knew he had bed bugs and since a guaranteed heat treatment with this particular pest control company would eradicate these elusive bed bugs.
We, at Mass Bed Bug Busters, qualify clients before committing to unnecessary inspections.
Call us at 508-713-8267 to talk to us about your bed bug ordeal and see if a canine inspection is warranted.

Whether "organized" or not, I am still dealing with clutter.  And that is ok as long as I have access from both sides.

It is hard to see in this picture, but I did not have access to the walls of the room.  Sniffing requires that my nose has access to all things to be sniffed at.  Bugs may be hiding behind the walls, so I need to sniff close to the walls and the outlets to detect them.

I use my high-tech nose to sniff out bed bugs:  HIGH_TECH because I have 200 millions sniffing cells compares to YOUR measly 5 millions.
I may be a regal beagle but I am not SuperBeagle! So please, be nice and help me out.

* There are no absolute reliable monitoring devices that exist today.
* Visual inspections can miss low-level bed bug populations as these can hide behind walls, outlets, baseboards, cracks in the walls, inside electronics etc.
* A treatment may miss eggs that were inaccessible and these may hatch later.
* Bed bugs can go into hiding for quite some time after a meal and thus are more likely to escape the effects of pesticide treatments.
* There are no standardized, cookie-cutter methods for treating bed bugs.
* Partly because every situation is different and every treatment approach should be tailored to it.
* Bed bugs proliferate very rapidly and thus can build resistance relatively fast to pesticides.
* One bed bug population that originated from one source can develop an entirely different resistance level  to pesticides compared to another bed bug population from another source.
* Bed bugs often stop biting after an insecticide treatment.
* No one really understands how bed bugs behave in the absence of hosts.
* There is no way of telling whether bed bugs that suddenly reappear weeks later are newly introduced since the last treatment or are remnants of the last infestation.
I would therefore highly recommend to ask our K9s to conduct a bed bug inspection and detect those pesky elusive critters all the way down to 1 live bed bug of egg.  Call us at 508-713-8267 or contact us here.

Gorgeous day today!  Nicki and Malamar were in Falmouth MA today inspecting a summer house.  When we came back, they jumped into Malamar's bed and slept together.  Isn't that cute!
This is the time of the year where we should be getting a bit of a break.  However business is picking up and bids have to go out as well as estimates.  The books have to be in order and budgeting for next year including advertisement and marketing expenses have to be accounted for.  Time to generate year-end report and revisit jobcosting numbers.
Does that sound familiar?
Tomorrow is another day and another K9 inspection for a repeat client.

Time for helping out and giving. Nicki and Malamar did a free bed bug inspection for this nice lovely elder lady in Waltham who just couldn't afford an inspection. She was so nice and offered a cup of tea, a slice of fantastic pie and a few cherished moments of chatting so we could re-fuel and re-tool.  She was so glad that we provided this bed bug detection right away because she had already missed Thanksgiving with her family.  Now at least, she can have X-mas with them.  Thank you so much for your hospitality, J. And Merry X-mas and a happy New Year.

Inspected a couple of rooms in the Altzheimer's wing of this Senior retirement and care facility near Billerica MA.  We also were tasked to inspect a hallway with some chairs and couches as well as a living/TV room area.
According to the executive director, a nurse had found on 2 occasions within a short timespan a bed bug crawling on this poor old woman's clothing, once in her room and once in the hallway on the couch.
The inspection resulted in no alerts, which brought a huge sigh of relief for the executive director.   However,  she wanted to know what else she could do to prevent an infestation from going out of control.
I suggested to have a candid talk with the family of this elder woman as most likely someone in the family keeps bringing in bedbugs when visiting. And to offer to have an inspection of their home conducted as well as have their home treated if needed, all of this at the expense of the facility. Think about it!  In the end, the facility will save a lot of money getting to the source of the problem and helping with the cost of treatment rather than wait for an infestation to get out of control.
I was pleased to see that she wholeheartedly agreed with me.

Bed bugs don't discriminate against any establishment.  Nicki and Malamar were tasked to inspect a church for bedbugs as one of the parishioners had had an outbreak of bed bugs at his house.
Pro-active searches is a sound approach for preventing a potential for a huge bed bug infestation.  And our dogs can even sniff out 1 live bed bug.  So if you want peace of  mind, call us at 508-713-8267 or click here to fill out this form.

Malamar taking a nap after a canine bed bug inspection job in Allston today.  A multi-units apartment complex, basically rented out to college students.  Ah! the days of College.  Long gone, so much fun indeed.  But I certainly do not remember living in such disastrous, messy, cluttery, dirty conditions.  Especially the kitchen area.
Oh well!  Malamar is perfect for this type of inspection job.  She just follows my lead and sniffs out everywhere and everything.  She was not too distracted by a cat that was running loose in one of the units.  Genrally, she would go wild at the sight or smell of a cat.  And another unit has a dog in it.
Kudos to Malamar who just behaved.
