It took 3 canine/handler teams and 4 hours of inspection time to perform this canine inspection on a record-breaking heat temperature day in Boston, yesterday.
We called off the inspection after 4 hours during the peak heat of the day when our bed bug dogs started panting a lot and slowed down. We will resume and finish this bed bug inspection in Boston, on another day.
Heat-exhaustion can be fatal for dogs – we just did not want to take any chances. No one can predict in advance of a scheduled appointment what the weather will be like. Fortunately, everyone understood and we were very thankful for that.
And yes, our dogs did alert to several rooms being infested with bed bugs. They nipped it in the bud before it got out of control and we were proud of our dogs.
